The Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics will pass through Pelham on Friday, May 17th, at 10:00 a.m. The Flame of Hope will travel through the State beginning Friday, May 10th, and concluding Friday, May 17th, at 3:00 p.m. as it arrives in Troy, Alabama, for the opening of the Special Olympics State Games. The Pelham Police Department is a proud supporter of this worthy cause that helps local athletes reach their fullest potential.
The Pelham portion of the statewide run is known as the Gomez Leg in memory of Pelham Police Officer Juan Gomez, an energetic torch runner, who we lost to COVID in 2021.
The run starts on Amphitheater Road at the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena, turns right onto Highway 31 North, and then right onto Highway 119.
We hope you'll come out to support law enforcement from around the state as we escort the Flame of Hope to Troy. Anyone is welcome to purchase a t-shirt and join us.
